28/02/18Fancy setting up your own blog and website?
We'll start by taking some photos in the studio and in the second half we'll show how to create a blog entry from them using Wordpress and Adobe Portfolio (free with Lightroom). We'll cover some pros and cons of each one and any others that people are familiar with.
07/03/18We'll be trying to recreate, in small groups, one of Edward Weston's famous pepper photos from 1930 using flashes or other lights rather than the window light that he used.

21/03/18Practical tips for getting started with video - microphones, external sound recorder, clapperboard - and rudimentary editing using Serif Movie Plus X6. Includes the use of stills mixed with film, crossfades, adding music/subtitles and mastering to DVD or memory media.
28/03/18An evening practising basic portrait lighting setups using studio flash and manual mode. We'll cover flash triggers, butterfly, loop and Rembrandt lighting.
04/04/18Local artist and storyteller Tee Bylo will be bringing a couple of her 12th scale "fantastical" buildings for us to photograph.
11/04/18A back-to-basics session covering exposure and the meanings of aperture, shutterspeed and ISO and how they can be used together to create your artistic vision.
We'll cover how changing the aperture affects what's in and out of focus, how shutter speed can be used to show or freeze motion and the effect that ISO has on image quality.
18/04/18An outdoor shoot at Sutton Bank on the A170 near Thirsk. It's about 40 minutes North of York on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

05/05/18To celebrate the official opening of the Spark:York community project, York Photography Network are pleased to have been invited to run a photo safari on the opening weekend. In collaboration with York Photography Meetup, Steve from York Photography Network will be leading a group on Saturday morning and Min from York Photography Meetup will be leading a group on Sunday afternoon.

02/06/18Another chance for a photo safari at Spark:York, the new community project hosting start up and social enterprises on the former Reynard's Garage Site on Piccadilly.
06/06/18A practical session in the studio. We'll set up a table for some tabletop/still life and probably use the other room for some studio shots using either speedlights (battery flashes) or the studio gear.
13/06/18They say never to work with children and animals, but we're going to do it anyway! Jackie will be bringing her dog along for some photos, should be interesting!
20/06/18Composition. A presentation by professional photographer Mike Lester. Come and get some tips about arguably the most important aspect of photography. Smartphone and point-and-shoot users welcome!
